Wed, Dec 1st, 2010 12:55am The Flip releases first EP
Lowell Pop / Rock band takes their first 5 song release from start to finish at The Space
The Flip was formed in the Summer of 2008 over a shared love of live performance. Starting out as a 4-piece cover band covering everything from CCR to Lady Gaga, the band rapidly became a staple on the Lowell, MA music scene. Their chemistry as a band grew quickly as did their development of original music. In May of 2010 they added a new member and sharpened their focus on getting their original music ready for recording. In November of 2010, they released their first EP titled "Runaway". The five songs on the EP were tracked, mixed and mastered at The Space. The tracking began with Tim, Abdi, and Eric on drums, bass and electric guitar in the live room with Sean and Ashley performing acoustic guitars, keys and vocals in the iso booth. Final vocal takes and harmonies (and ukulele) were tracked in later sessions. After approving rough in-the-box mixes, Eric's guitar was setup to be reamped during mixdown in the live room, an aux send was fed to the front function hall for natural reverb (no digital reverb was used in any of the mixes), and the final mixes were performed through the Toft ATB24 console.
At the top of the page are two of the final tracks from the disc. More info: The Flip @ Reverbnation |
