Sun King was founded by singer & guitarist Andrew Seminara and drummer Fred Carleton in 2005. The two musicians and childhood friends had been playing out together with various bands around the Cape Cod and Greater Boston area since 2000. In 2005 they joined forces with producer, guitarist, & pianist Vincent Pedulla, a close friend of Seminara’s at Berklee College of Music in Boston. In the summer of ‘06 Pedulla introduced them to bassist & vocalist Keith Valcourt whose thick, groove-oriented bass lines and high-register backup vocals were a perfect match for the band’s solid foundation.

Valcourt had been playing for many years in different bands with long-time friend and guitarist Justin Pilat, and in the fall of ’07, Pilat joined the band, rounding out the sound with his ripping leads and thoughtful harmonies. In many ways Valcourt & Pilat are a mirror image of Seminara & Carleton and it shines through in the organic and tight original music the band has created together.
